As an avid Google Maps user on both a personal and business level, I’ve often wished for a more interactive and all-inclusive experience. For instance, wouldn’t it be great to get suggestions for options like the closest coffee shop or lunch spot while I’m driving from Point A to Point B? Sure, I could pull over, open up Google and search for these things separately, but who wouldn’t welcome a truly responsive and local experience within Google Maps?
According to official Google statements, more than 50 percent of search queries globally now come from mobile devices. But we don’t know whether the number is 51 percent or 60 percent, or if it varies significantly by country.
A recent report from Hitwise argues that in the US mobile search is roughly 58 percent of overall search query volume. That’s based on an average of 11 key categories and associated queries analyzed by Hitwise in its “Mobile Search: Topics and Themes” report. The company “examined hundreds of millions of online search queries” across PCs, smartphones and tablets between April 10 and May 7, 2016.
People have the best of intentions when they take on PPC without the help of a professional. And why wouldn’t they have high hopes when Google makes it look so easy in its myriad of fanciful videos?
Now, I’m sure there are a lot of smart, self-taught business owners and in-house marketers who have found some success with PPC. Keyword Planner begins expansion outside of the US and gives users some new ways to find keywords in the process.
Many paid search marketers will be pleasantly surprised the next time they go to perform keyword research in Bing Ads. First, those in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia will now have access to Keyword Planner. Second, Keyword Planner will have an additional targeting feature to help users find keyword suggestions based on product categories.
